God only gives His Spirit to those
who keep His commandments
The one who belongs listens and responds to Yehovah's words. If you don't listen and respond,
it is because you don't belong to Yehovah." John 8:47

The noon sun beat down upon the ancient limestone of Jerusalem with an unnatural, stifling heat. It had not rained for three long years. Reservoirs were cracked mud, crops had withered to ash, and every attempt by modern engineering to force moisture from the sky had failed.
In the middle of the crowded public square, two men stood clad in rough black sackcloth.
They did not hold press conferences, nor did they negotiate with the international coalition. They simply pointed their weathered staffs toward the sky, quoting the ancient texts and calling the world to repentance. Whenever the regime's tactical units advanced to silence them, sheets of consuming fire erupted from the prophets' mouths, reducing weapons and armored vehicles to smoldering slag before a single shot could land.
Watching from the rooftop balcony of a luxury suite sat Julian, a high-ranking regional administrator of the global regime.
The Torment of the Unrepentant
Julian poured a measure of rationed wine with trembling fingers. He had everything modern civilization could promise—rank, digital wealth, and the security seal of the new order. Yet, he was utterly miserable.
Every broadcast screen across the globe carried a live satellite feed of the two figures. For Julian, their presence was an unrelenting agony. It wasn't just the physical thirst, the poisoned rivers, or the failing grid; it was the unavoidable conviction of their words.
Whenever the prophets spoke, their voices resonated through the city like thunder. They called out the pride, corruption, and idolatry of the world system. Julian tried covering his ears, closing his shutters, and turning up artificial ambient sound, but the words seemed to bypass his ears and strike directly at his conscience.
"Why won't someone kill them?" Julian cursed, slamming his glass against the stone balustrade. "Why can't our weapons touch them?"
A fellow official scoffed bitterly. "Every missile detonates in midair. Every strike team burns. We have power over every nation on earth, yet two men in rags have brought the entire planet to a standstill."
To the sinners who had hardened their hearts, the Two Witnesses were not messengers of mercy—they were tormentors who stripped away every excuse, exposing the utter helplessness of human pride before God.
The Premature Celebration
At the end of forty-two months, the impossible happened.
Sirens echoed across Jerusalem as the supreme leader’s elite guard breached the square. The divine protection had ceased; their testimony was finished. The Beast arose, and before the cameras of every major network, the Two Witnesses were struck down.
Their bodies were left lying in the dust of the broad street. The global edict forbade their burial, putting them on continuous global broadcast for the world to mock.
Instant relief flooded the city. Julian felt a weight lift from his chest—a sudden surge of euphoria.
"It’s over!" Julian laughed, ordering the finest vintage from the underground vaults.
Across every continent, spontaneous street parties erupted. Neighbors exchanged gifts, governments declared national holidays, and people toasted the defeat of the two men who had tormented the earth with drought and plagues. For three and a half days, humanity celebrated what they believed was the final victory over divine authority.
The Sudden Reckoning
On the morning of the fourth day, Julian stood in the square among the jeering crowds, filming the spectacle on his tablet. The bodies still lay motionless beneath the desert sun.
Then, without warning, the air grew ice-cold.
A sound like rushing wind echoed through the streets. Julian watched the screen in his hands glitch, then looked up with his own eyes.
The chests of the two dead men heaved. Air rushed into their lungs. Slowly, deliberately, both witnesses rose to their feet.
The laughing crowd instantly fell dead silent. Wine glasses shattered on the cobblestones. Smiles froze into masks of pure horror.
A booming voice resonated from the heavens, splitting the clouds with golden light:
"COME UP HITHER."
In full view of millions in the square and billions through satellite broadcasts, the Two Witnesses ascended into the sky, vanishing into a luminous cloud.
Before anyone could run, the bedrock of Jerusalem heaved violently. A massive earthquake tore open the city center. Ancient arches collapsed, modern glass towers crumbled, and thousands fell in an instant.
Julian was thrown to the jagged pavement, his tablet shattered, staring into the heavens where the cloud had disappeared. The illusion of safety was gone. Worldly power had proved meaningless. The realization crashed over him with suffocating weight: there was nowhere left to hide from the King of kings.
The phrase "The Worst Time To Be A Sinner Is When The Two Witnesses Of Revelation Appear" is a prominent theme in Christian eschatology and sermon teachings (popularized in part by messages and videos from ministries like Grace For Purpose).
It centers on Revelation chapter 11, which details the arrival of two extraordinary prophetic figures. In biblical prophecy, this period represents the pinnacle of spiritual accountability, where humanity's rebellion against God is confronted with absolute authority, leaving the unrepentant completely without excuse.
1. Why It Is the "Worst Time" to Be in Rebellion
Absolute Divine Power Confronting Rebellion
During their 1,260-day ministry (3½ prophetic years), the two witnesses are granted supernatural authority to demonstrate God’s sovereignty:
Fire from their mouths: Anyone who attempts to harm them before their mission is finished is consumed by fire (Rev. 11:5).
Control over the elements: They have the power to shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, turn waters into blood, and strike the earth with plagues as often as they desire (Rev. 11:6).
Consequence for the sinner: Worldly power, military might, and technological defiance become completely useless against their word.
The "Torment" of Truth and Conviction
Revelation 11:10 explicitly states that these two prophets "tormented those who dwell on the earth."
This torment is both physical (drought, famine, plagues) and intensely spiritual. In a world largely deceived by the Antichrist and the false prophet, the Two Witnesses preach unrelenting truth and demand repentance. For someone determined to stay in sin, living under constant divine exposure and unyielding moral conviction creates unbearable psychological and spiritual distress.
Complete Removal of Any Excuse
Often, people justify unbelief through skepticism or perceived ambiguity. During the ministry of the Two Witnesses, God's reality, judgment, and power are undeniable and televised/broadcast globally (Rev. 11:9).
Continuing to reject God in the face of such undeniable signs leads to hardening of the heart (similar to Pharaoh during the plagues of Egypt), leaving no middle ground: a person either falls to their knees in repentance or hardens into complete spiritual doom.
2. The Illusion of Victory (The 3½ Days)
When their testimony is finished, the Beast (Antichrist) is permitted to overcome and kill them (Rev. 11:7). What follows shows the depth of spiritual depravity during this time:
[ Two Witnesses Killed in Jerusalem ]
│
▼
[ Global Celebration: Nations view their bodies, send gifts, celebrate relief from conviction ]
│
▼
[ 3½ Days Later: Breath of God enters them — Sudden Resurrection ]
│
▼
[ Great Fear falls on the earth as they ascend to Heaven in a cloud ]
│
▼
[ Massive Earthquake strikes the city — 7,000 perish; the rest are terrified ]
The global celebration highlights how desperate sinners are to be rid of the conviction of God’s law.
The sudden resurrection and ascension immediately shatter that relief, turning premature triumph into overwhelming dread (Rev. 11:11–13).
3. The Core Spiritual Warning
The central takeaway of sermons addressing this period is the danger of delay and hardened hearts:
Grace Today vs. Wrath Then: Today is viewed as the dispensation of grace, where Christ knocks quietly at the door of the heart (Rev. 3:20). During the time of the Two Witnesses, the call to turn back to God comes accompanied by global judgment and plagues.
The Danger of Spiritual Blindness: Rejection of truth when it is clearly demonstrated seals a soul under strong delusion (cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:10–12).
The Call to Action: Rather than facing the terrifying reality of divine confrontation during the Tribulation, the message urges individuals to reconcile with God in the present moment through faith and repentance.
